“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.” -Anatole France
Our pets provide us with nothing but love and affection and yet can teach us so much. They are furry, four legged children that never grow up. No matter how bad your day is, or how bad you are feeling about yourself, your pet will still make you feel like you are the most important person in the world. They are with us for such a short amount of time but we remember them for our entire life.
I have had pets in my life since I a baby and I cannot imagine not having one. As an animal rescuer, I have experience as a foster, transporter, fundraiser, and caregiver. My decision to take my photography to the professional level, developed from taking adoption photos of my foster dogs. At that time, shelter photos of dogs, with their tails between their legs, tethered to the wall were the norm. I always thought that adoption photos should show a pets personality, and that is what I did.
I feel that pets are most comfortable in their home setting and do all of my photography on location. Getting to know your pet is my first priority and I will not stop shooting until I feel I've captured their personality.
